Hair Model Application

Makeup by Jai

Melanie came to us as a 'hair color class' model. She is a mother of two, and a busy professional. She has little time for herself.  Tiny over bleached high lights throughout her hair looked like gray hair. I high lighted the hair in butterscotch tones, especially in the front, and colored the rest of her hair with 1 level of a warm golden brown, and another level of medium auburn. She wanted to keep the length of her hair, so we just trimmed the ends and reshaped the layers.  Jai worked magic with the makeup!

Color & cut class model Barbie came to us with extremely over processed hair. She goes to salons, and does it herself. Her passion is being at the beach and fishing.... The challenge... create a natural blonde, and get the color to hold!

I put Barbie's natural color, (lightest brown) from her nape to her occipital bone. This would lay the foundation for the contrast needed.  Then I high lighted her with decolorizer, low lighted her with a medium blonde and her base color.  She was later toned with the lightest of neutral blonde glazes.  We then did a 4 step deep conditioner, the 5th step remained in her hair.

Barbie wanted to keep her length, but the ends had to go, so her cut was fresh long layers, with a face frame.

We sent her home with sulfate free shampoo, a spray leave in conditioner, a cream conditioner she could use as a styling aid,  directions how to properly shampoo her hair, and lots of info on how to protect her hair from the sun and salt water...

6 weeks later she was back for a partial high light, and we were all delighted to see some of her dimensional color still in the hairl... Good job Barbie!

I met Kitty at a garage sale! She was hot and tired and complained about her hair which was pulled back into a bun. Her hair was yellow, orange, with white re-growth. She needed a new look and I needed a model!

Kitty agreed to come to the salon and be a corrective color class model. We were surprised when she said ."and I want to cut it all off!" We looked through some pictures that would suit her hair texture and features.

Her color went as planned, soft neutral blonde on the roots for low maintenance,  darker neutral blonde low lights, and a few high lights throughout the top, back and sides too break through the orange tone. A pinwheel technique was used for all the highlights and lowlights to create contrast, as well as depth, and movement with the cut. In the end we toned Kitty with the lightest cool blonde glaze to neutralize any unwanted warmth.

Kitty chose a version of Victoria Beckham's new bob. A perfect choice for her hair type and facial features. Jai applied a touch of makeup, Kitty felt like a queen. We had a great time with the photo shoot and when her boyfriend came to pick her up, he said, 'Wow! Look at you!" Big smiles all around!
